On April 25th 2014, my friends Ciara and Chris got married and I had the honour of making their bridesmaid dresses. The bride had five bridesmaids and wanted a different design for each one in coral, her colour theme.
First, I looked at pictures of each bridesmaid to see their style and what suits them. Then, I got to work designing different variations of top designs but gave all of the skirts the same long shape.
I came up with a drape and twist technique that could be used in different ways and would all go well together. One had a one shouldered version, one had the twist on the centre front and one was draped on a corset version. The remaining two had simpler shapes; one with a boat neck front and low v-back and the other with an off the shoulder shape.
They were all made in a flowy satin backed crepe that worked well with the draping and all of the dresses were finished off with a waistband using the reverse side of the fabric.
We were blessed with the sunshine so the bright colours really suited the day. Not to mention the beautiful bride who looked stunning. Ciara and Chris already celebrated their first wedding anniversary so here is to many more!
